YOUTH HOME
"In
the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see
the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven. “ Matthew 5:16
Brigido

Brigido’s family shown with the youth
The Youth Home was founded in 1976 by Tom Freshour and has benefited more than
350 students. The purpose of the home is to provide young men and women from low
income families with both a secular and spiritual education. There are
approximately fifteen students ranging from 13 to 30 years of age in the home,
and each of them is involved in ministry here in SLP. One young man has taken
over the role of youth minister at the church of Pavon, and is also currently
helping with the children’s program at The Mission. He graduated from the Bible
College this year, and is considering taking a full time position working at The
Mission in the future.

Brigido and Martha are the current Directors of this home, while Amy serves as
the business administrator, advisor, and translator. The students living in the
youth home must keep their grades at a B average, do different tasks around the
home, such as cooking or cleaning, and are involved in all church activities.

The home houses students who are attending all levels of school from Jr.High to
the University level. Most of these students are not Christians when arriving to
the home but after a few months they soon find themselves giving their hearts to

Friends made
The
Home not only provides an education, but also a Christ centered atmosphere of
love. Relationships are built between youth that last for a lifetime, and the
constant Christian example of Martha, Brigido, and their family has more impact
than anyone outside of the home can fully understand. The majority of the
students are from remote areas of Mexico and when these students leave the Home
they cannot only be proud of achieving a degree of studies, but they can be
proud of changes in their lifestyle. Think of what an outstanding Christian
example these students can be when they return to their homes!
